Nao SHIMPO "Rubbings Exhibition"

The "Rubbings" culture existed between the Ainu culture that continued from Jomon.
Inspired by the earthenware made in that period, this exhibition features works of Senbo-gaki paper （ created by Naoaki Sakamoto, aka Nao-san, from his dialogue with paper.
SENBOKU-SHI is a washi artwork by Sakamoto, who uses natural dyes to dye and draw on handmade washi from around the world.

"Many people know about Jomon earthenware, but few know about rubbed earthenware.

In the Heian and Kamakura periods, there were earthenware with scratched patterns in the north.

"Smooth and beautiful, but not interesting.

Not enough, we will scratch.

We scratch to be us.

I imagine such a voice once.

For thirty years the voices have not ceased.

Not only has it not ceased,
